London Year 5 and 6 Hemlington Hall Academy June 2026
Change to the Year 5 Residential Offer
Dear families,
Due to low uptake from children on both the Year 6 London and Year 5 Dearne Valley residentials, we have made the decision to organise 1 residential a year for Upper Key Stage 2 (Year 5 and 6). We will alternate between a trip to London and an outdoor residential.
Although some children have declared their interest to go to Dearne Valley outdoor residential, this will not not take place next year but in 2027.
This year’s offer to visit London is now open to all year 5 and 6 pupils.
The trip to London would take place in June 2026. We will travel by train and stay in central London at the YHA hostels. We stayed with them last year and it was fantastic.
The itinerary would include such experiences as:

The London Eye
Houses of Parliament
The Science Museum
National History Museum
Walk around London
River Cruise
Although I have not got final costs, I am estimating that this could cost around £300. Both Mrs Edmenson and I will be going along with a full compliment of staff in line with the ratios needed for adult:pupil within our Risk assessments for such a residential.
This trip will be amazing!
From this interest, I will get booking and get deposits in (£20 due by the 30th Sept) to secure your child’s place. A payment plan will be put together so that our families can pay for it in instalments or in full if they so wish.
Please tell me if you child IS or IS NOT interested by Friday 26th September 2025. If your child is interested, no money has to been paid until the end of September/early October.
