Reading

In reading today we are focusing on the section you read aloud yesterday. Re-read the section and think about how you can improve your reading fluency. Where can I add more expression? Am I responding to all punctuation appropriately?

Our question today is – What clues are there in the text that Alex has been led to a place of danger?

Fill in the table below with at least 3 examples explaining your choice of evidence. I have completed a model answer for you.

Quote from the textWhy does this suggest danger?
“a second, much rougher track leading away from the sea and across the fields. His instincts would have told him to go straight ahead.”  The path changes in texture. It is rougher and therefore does not match the public footpath which Alex has been travelling on. This may be because it is not really part of the public footpath but a side track, which will take Alex away from the general public to a place of potential danger.

Writing

We’re going to continue working on proof-reading and editing Writing. Just like yesterday, I want you to proof-read a piece of work and correct any errors you find. This is a tricky skill but is super important. How many errors can you find?

Science

What is the Theory of Evolution?

In today’s lesson we look at Darwin’s observations from his trip on HMS Beagle. We will then put all his observations together to see how Darwin came up with his theory. His theory is called evolution. We will apply this new knowledge to two other examples of evolution, mice and giraffes. Pause the video when you are asked and jot down your answers. Please send a picture of your work via dojo.
