Hemlington Hall Academy

Year 1 Friday 29th January

Friday 29th January 2021

Good morning. Your work for today is posted below. If you have any problems, please get in touch via Class Dojo and we will help.

We will be looking at the “e-e” sound in Phonics. I will be hosting a Zoom Phonics lesson at 10.00am and going through this with you then.

Please have a pen and paper ready for the Zoom Phonics lesson.

Today in Writing you will be writing your character description of Grannie Island. Look back at your plan and think about how you can change your ideas into sentences.

For example, you could write

Grannie Island wears blue overalls. She has muddy knees. Her wellington boots are green. She is kind and funny.

Try and include at least one adjective in each sentence. You could also try and extend your sentence with the word and.

Today we will be counting one more and one less with numbers to 20.

Watch this video or download the PPT below.

Today in DT you are going to evaluate your lighthouse. Look at your lighthouse and think about the things you like about it. You might love the colours you have used for your lighthouse. Or maybe you did a really good job of cutting/painting your lighthouse. Then you need to think about what you could have improved about your lighthouse. Maybe your cutting skills need a bit of practise. Or maybe you think you could have done better painting.

Then you need to complete this evaluation about your lighthouse. Put a tick in the box that describes how you feel about your lighthouse. You can change the statements if they don’t apply to what you did.

Don’t forget to upload your work to your portfolio!
